One marriage on our list lasted just 72 days and generated
countless headlines across the internet and in gossip magazines. Another one
had people on an entirely different continent waking up at the crack of dawn to
toast to their nuptials. As we enter a
new year, we take a moment to recap the most buzzed about celebrity weddings of 2011.
5. Kelsey Grammer and Kayte Walsh
Only weeks after his divorce was finalized with Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, Camille Grammer, Frasier alum Kelsey Grammer
wed his girlfriend Kayte Walsh on February 25th in a lavish
reception at the Plaza Hotel. The gossip columns had a heyday with these
nuptials, especially since Grammer’s estranged wife Camille is a staple on
Bravo’s hit guilty-pleasure television show.
4. LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian
Keeping with the Real Housewives theme, this next couple
also has a tie to the Bravo reality series. Cibrian’s ex-wife is Brandi
Cibrian, fellow cast-mate of Camille Grammer on the Beverly Hills installment. Rimes and Cibrian - who were both married to
other people when their romance began on the set of the Lifetime movie they
both starred in - married in Malibu on April 22nd.
3. Nick Lachey and Vanessa Murillo
This wasn’t the first time Nick Lachey’s nuptials were
televised. He was previously wed to Jessica Simpson during their reality
television show. This time around with Murillo, he was married at Richard
Branson’s private Necker Island on July 15th. Their wedding was
filmed by TLC and aired as “Nick and Vanessa’s Dream Wedding”.
2. Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries
If this wedding lasted more than 72 days, it quite possibly
would have been #1 on our list. It certainly was America’s Royal Wedding. On
August 20th, the couple married in front of 500 of their closest
family and friends as well as anyone watching the E! network.
1. Prince William and
Kate Middleton
Sorry Kardashians, our friends on the other side of the pond
didn’t wake up to see you get married. That’s why the Royal Wedding is the most
gushed about wedding of 2011. And this wedding is hard to top. I mean, we’re
talking royalty here. Middleton became a princess in a stunning Alexander
McQueen wedding gown in front of the world on April 29th.
