3 Non-Cliché Tips For A Cozy Winter Wedding

Brides getting married in the winter - especially here in the Midwest - are faced with certain elements that are out of their control such as frigid weather and unpredictable snowfall. Even with these uncertainties though, winter weddings are often more romantic and intimate compared to their summer wedding counterparts. Winter brides walk a fine line however, as it can be tough to capture the spirit of the holiday season without drowning guests in candy canes and ice sculptures. Here is a list of 3 tips to ensure your wedding is tasteful and cozy.

Use A Basic Color Pallet Of Silver and White

Have you thought about crystal accents in your flower arrangements or as the backdrop to your head table? What about crisp white table clothes with silver napkins and place settings? The Knot suggests a white velvet runner with satin trim. These details give the appearance of a winter wonderland without being so obvious.

Offer A Unique Festive Signature Drink

Serving a signature drink is a great way to make your wedding stand out. Get creative, and come up with a unique name for your drink. Think about using classic winter time ingredients with a twist like white hot chocolate, marshmallow flavored Vodka or spiced eggnog. If you’re serving martinis, perhaps add a candy cane straw or dip the glass in peppermint pieces instead of sugar or salt.

Choose A Two-Toned Wedding Gown With Tulle Accents

Winter brides can certainly get away with the strapless styles that summer brides wear, but lately, Volle’s Bridal & Boutique has seen cold-weather brides choose two-tone gowns with tulle accents. The tulle can serve as a sophisticated, light-weight shall that won’t overwhelm the wedding gown.

There you have it - 3 tips to ensure your wedding is a mystical night to remember. What tips do you have for a chic winter wedding?

Sterling Rose......A Brides Tale

A bride came in to Volle's to look at wedding gowns. She was frustrated since she has been looking at many bridal shops and has not found her perfect gown. As the Volle's employee-Carol (30 years experience)talked to the bride, Carol realized that the bride wanted to a very specific color she for her gown to be. Carol suggested to find the gown first, then they will work on the color.

Both Carol and the bride determined the perfect style for her and then came the challenge; the color. The client always traveled on business and upon her return, her fiance' would always meet her with sterling roses.   The roses were a silvery violet color. She wanted a gown to match those roses.  Carol assured the client that her dream gown was possible.  Volle' was in the alteration department that evening and I asked her to join us. Volle' , a designer and artist, explained that she could custom make that gown if the bride brought in a rose so she could match the color.

The bride was so excited that she could have her dream gown. The client brought Volle' several sterling roses.  Volle' then combined a special ordered silk fabric that had a silver tint.  She added several layers of violet lining and tulle to replicate the color of a sterling rose perfectly.  Upon color approval from the bride, her dream was fulfilled. The bride wore her dream dress on her wedding day, carrying sterling roses of course. "Only Volle's make you feel like you are the only bride in the world".
